Emmys 2009: ‘Grey Gardens’ and “Saddam’ Win Top Statuettes

The television movie and miniseries categories handed out their awards. Shohreh Aghdashloo won an Emmy for outstanding supporting actress for her portrayal of Sajida Khairallah Talfah in the HBO miniseries “House of Saddam.” Ken Howard earned an outstanding supporting actor award for his role as Phelan Beale in HBO’s “Grey Gardens.” Keeping up with the Kanye West jabs, Howard kept his acceptance speech short “in the hope that it won’t be interrupted by a congressman or a rapper.” Brendan Gleeson won the award for best actor for “Into The Storm” and Jessica Lange won the best actress award for “Grey Gardens.” The award for outstanding television movie went to HBO’s “Grey Gardens,” while PBS’s “Little Dorrit” won for best miniseries.
