AMC serial receives award show’s most anticipated honor

tylized AMC drama “Mad Men” took home the most anticipated honor of the night at Sunday’s Emmy ceremony at the Nokia Theatre, winning for Outstanding Drama Series.

The show, which follows the lives of advertising executives and their families in the 1960s, was up against other popular network and cable dramas, including “Big Love,” “House” and “Lost.”

“Mad Men” writers Kater Gordon and Matthew Weiner took home a golden statuette for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series earlier in the night.


Actors Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss and John Slattery were nominated for Emmys for their roles on the show, but lost to “Breaking Bad’s” Bryan Cranston, “Damages’” Glenn Close and “Lost’s” Michael Emerson,” respectively. Director Phil Abraham lost to “ER” director Rod Holcomb.
